The boat

Wishbone

Wishbone is a 25 foot (7.6m) Reactor, a small keel boat designed in New Zealand by Paul Whiting. She was built in 1976 and launched in 1977. Reactors are strongly built and have a good reputation as very seaworthy yachts which are easy to handle. They perform well racing against other boat designs, particularly in rough weather, and excel in headwinds over 30 knots.

Many Reactors have been sailed successfully off shore. Jaffa was sailed to Mooloolaba and back in 1978 and has since been sailed to the Mediterranean. Sassy has circumnavigated both North and South Islands of New Zealand.

There is an active Reactor Yachting Association with a strong racing fleet which has enabled Reactors' performance to be measured and optimised.
